The Chief Fire Officer, Dr Albert Brown Gaisie, has directed all fire stations across the nation to intensify community patrols. This comes in the wake of a surge in fire disasters during the holdays.
In a press release on Monday, December 26, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said “all security men at both public and private facilities should ensure that all electrical installations, switches and sockets are properly maintained to prevent it from short-circuiting”.
Signed by Director of Public Affairs Prince Anaglatey, the release also cautioned households to maintain safety measures by, for instance, switching off and deplugging electrical gadgets before members leave home. It said the Service’s various stations are on stand-by for any eventualities and can be reached on their hotline 192.
